Yea I thought the whole thing is to be against bands like Motley Crue and for shure doin' ya own.
GH are just usual rock business, nothing special.
c'mon give that man a break. i mean, he started the band as an angry and maybe fucked up kid, not thinking any further than probably the next day. but today he's making a living on his music, and i wouldn't know of any other career opportunites he could take if he lost his arms and voice tomorrow.
so he's got that big house (is it big? i have no idea...), a wife and kids, wants to build kustom kars and bikes and what not. fine, nothing to be jealous of.
he needs to make some dollares, because what is he going to live on when he finally says good-bye to the hotel rooms, the nightliners and the stages of the world? it's not like get some rock star pension from the funky union of cool-ass musicians after you retire.
i don't mind at all if he and the band members and maybe the management try to make some extra cash by chucking out what seems to be a rip-off to the die-hard fans of the band.
at the end of the day it's up to you, take it or leave it, love it or hate it.
and, honestly, if you're beginning to hold grudges against sxdx because of the GH album, then you've never ever had the slightest idea what the whole thing is all about.
just my 2 cents

Yeah, they're gonna tour world wide again
Can't wait to see them
Why is everyone being a bitch about Mike making some money.i know when i get older i hope i have some money to kick back with to support the kids and send them to college, its almost like you think he owes you something.get over it
He can earn the money if he want to, but who will buy it?. Sorry, I don't see something negative if we criticize this. It's just an good advice from friends , he could earn alot with better things. Without the bad taste of a maybe- ripoff because of the song "far behind".
Do you really think its about money? I mean if he was doing it for money, wouldn't he put more songs on it...wouldn't social d be releasing an album every year then? I personaly think this might have more to do with a contract or the song selection has to do with previous contracts or something like that.
And if your an "hardcore" fan..dont you already have all these songs except the new one? If you want the new song but dont want to buy the GH album..then just down load it or have someone burn it for you.

It's funny that someone mentioned "its almost like you think he owes you something.get over it". Let's think about that for a minute. Who's been supporting Social Distortion financially for the past 20+ years? That would be the fans. The hardcore diehard fans. They're not a "Green Day" type band where hundreds of thousands, even millions, of people flock to buy their records and see their shows. They have an established fan base that continually supports them. That fan base grows by a lot of word of mouth and even kids of the fan base. Their fan base is their marketing machine. Do I think they owe the hardcore fans? You're damn right I think they owe us. Even Mike said that 8 years between studio records was too long and that they shouldn't have assumed the fans would still be there. So fine, if he wants to do a greatest hits album, that's great. Don't fuck the longtime fans by putting a new song on there. "Far Behind" is NOT a "greatest hit" and doesn't belong on that record unless they're trying to screw the fans. They can make plenty of money from us longtime fans with a new record and a lengthy tour that would follow. A greatest hits album isn't going to secure Mike's financial future, send his kids to college, and allow him to retire, at least not a greatest hits album like this. If this is a way to get out of their current record deal, as some have suggested, I think it's even worse. Maybe their egos will reset after hardly anyone buys this record.
How is Mike "screwing" the hardcore fans by putting the new song on the greatest hits record? If you're such a hardcore fan..buy it, down load it, burn it from a friend...or stop bitching. Yeah, the greatest hits album is missing several songs and isn't as good as maybe it shoudl be, but like i said before if your such a hardcore fan, then you already have those songs.
All mike is doing is saying hey here's a little something to look forward to by putting a new song on the GH album, maybe he was thinking about the Hardcore fans when he did that. after all he didnt have to put a new song on it.and im sure every hardcore fan is gonna buy the GH i know i am just for the artwork and the new song.
